In 2009 Michael Barnes compete in the full AMA Pro Daytona SportBike season on the No. 34 Richie Morris Racing (RMR) Geico Powersports Buell Racing 1125R. In 2008 raced for nearly 10 different teams all around the world and finished fifth in the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. Won the AMA Pro SunTrust Moto-GT race at Topeka on Buell 1125R.

2009 – First year racing. Homestead race weekend, first race ever, finished weekend with a 2nd place podium finish. Daytona race weekend lead GTU race 7 of 9 laps to finish 2nd. Blew motor in Nascar turn four Saturday morning practice. Missed Superbike and Grand Prix races replacing motor. Sunday, finished 2nd in Supersport race. Palm Beach race weekend struggled all weekend running AMA Spec tires. Lost front end in Supersport race. Recouped and finished weekend with a 1st in Grand Prix. Jennings GP, Ran good all weekend, guaranteeing top five finishes. Highsided in GTU race while passing for 2nd place. Missed remainder of the races for the weekend. Palm Beach II, Finally settled into a rhythm, Finished on podium in every race. Palm Beach III, encountered numerous engine problems again from motors purchased from AMA Supersport Team.
